Finnish Valio sells business in Russia to Velkom

HELSINKI, Apr 26 (PRIME) -- Finnish dairy producer Valio is selling its Russia-based business, including the Viola brand, to local food maker Velkom, the Finnish company said in a statement on Tuesday.

“Valio has finished negotiations on selling its business in Russia. Valio will sell its operations to Velkom. The deal will be conducted immediately. The parties have decided not to disclose the sum of the deal,” the statement read.

The deal includes Valio’s Russia-based facilities and a smelted cheese plant in Yershovo. It also includes the smelted cheese brand Viola in Russia.
